Avis Review
A Rapper’s Ambition is a film which follows our Asian male protagonist in a journey which he takes in order to try and be successful in the music world. Our task as a group of 4 was to produce a film trailer were it would attract our target audience to come and watch the film; if it ever came out.
Our first stage of our practical production was when we got the camera and started to film. This stage was when the group was at a high level of enthusiasm which slowly decreased as time went by. The first range of shots that we got were very good as they varied, however they were criticised for being too dark making it hard to see our villain.
The next stage was test screenings were we had to show the class what footage we had and how we planned to use it. This was the time when the group were de motivated and heartbroken as we were accused of having done nothing and just wasting our time messing around. Teachers, mentors and even fellow class members thought that our production was a “joke” and that we will not finish in time at a satisfactory standard.
Following on from the criticism and accusations which we took on the cheek, we managed to turn things around and made progress in an instant. We finished in time and followed the correct conventions for a film trailer and we as a group were happy with our final production in the end.
Our aim as a group was to get 65 out of 65 but we managed to get 62 out of 65 which was good enough and we also joint with two other productions for the three best productions which got 62 as well.

Review of A Rapper's Ambition
Nabil’s Review
A Rapper’s Ambition is all about ambition for music; it tells a story of a gifted young Asian artist having a desire or ambition should I say to become a successful rapper and make it to the top of the mainstream music industry however overcoming tough obstacles in order to get to the top
Moving on, Our filming started pretty good, we adapted well to the use of the camera and managed to get excellent shots on our villain, however our group was criticised
for having too much footage in dark scenery and we lacked more footage in open light, but we quickly managed to get more footage in light than dark.
However we did struggle during the test screening, our production, compared to the rest was all over the place and like Ajitpal said, we did get A LOT of stick from people and from there on, people began to doubt if we would ever finish on time. This motivated the whole group really which made us commit every single day and evening filming and editing until we had achieved our target of producing the best trailer
Furthermore, we managed to shrug of the criticisms from people and put our heads together and worked thoroughly hard to produce the final piece, everyone in the group did contribute effectively and we implemented all our ideas professionally which was the reason why we did prove everyone wrong (including Mr Bush) and to get the top grade and also the reason why ‘A Rapper’s Ambition’ is in the running to become the best production

Well, the practical production started out with just a few rough ideas put foward by the whole group, however we all agreed on two things, firstly that we were going to be making a trailer and lastly that it was going to be based on music, which is something that we all follow and have an interest for. As for the production, this is what happened.......
We were all enthusiastic about the production and the different types of shots we would use and how exciting filming would be and you can remember our excitement with the shots of the ducks we shot, however we soon realized that most of our shots were done in the dark and we took quite a bit of stick for that, not mentioning any names (ms jones), anyway....
As we as a group got further into the production our filming started to fall apart and that kind of reflected itself in the test screening and again we took alot of stick for that, not mentioning any names (ms jones) anyway, we soon got back on track and we were alot more commited to the task in hand and we took our new found glory into the editing process where we continued to get excited over the effects (they were good though) but all in all everyone took part, even though me, avi and amit would do most the editing nabil still contributed by gving ideas (the glass) and updating the blog and uploading the footage.
However the best bit of the whole production was to see the look on Mr bush's and Ms jones's faces when they saw the final product, and to think that they ever doubted us, we always knew we could do it, how about that for a review.

RESULTS ARE IN

EDITING PROGRESS 9/04/08
WELL SINCE I HAVENT BEEN AVAILABLE LAST WEEK FOR EDITING DUE TO UNECESSARY CIRCUMSTANCES, ILL ROUND UP ON WHATS BEEN HAPPENING IN THE SO CALLED "NAAA" PRODUCTION LOL PRIVIATE JOKE.. OKKKKK WE HAVE LITERALLY 2 DAYZ LEFT TO COMPLETE THIS PRODUCTION AND I HAVE TO SAY HATZ OFF TO EVERYONE IN THE GROUP BECAUSE OUR PRODUCTION IS LOOKIING PERFECT, JUST ONE MORE SCENE LEFT TO FILM AND THEN JUST CAPTIONS NEEDED AS FINISHING TOUCHES SO THE CAPTIONS CAN BE DONE ON FRIDAY, OUR LAST SCENE WAS MEANT TO BE DONE TODAY BUT DUE TO HEALTH PROBLEMS TO CERTATIN GROUP MEMBERZ, IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE BUT HOPEFULLY WE'LL GET IT DONE ON THURS SO FRIDAY WE WILL HAVE LESS TO DO AND WE WOULDNT HAVE TO WORRY ON THE LAST DAY AND RUSH INTO THINGSSS.. OKAY THAT BIT DONE, MOVING ON...
WE RECENTLY FILMED FOOTAGE OF VARIOUS SURROUNDINGZ IN THE AREA YESTERDAY, AMIT AND AJITPAL GOT SOME REALLY FANTASTIC SHOTS OF A PATHWAY, MORE LIKE A SUBWAY FROM THE SO CALLED "DEVILS ALLEY" BIG MANZZZZZ BEING SOLDIERS ENTERING THE DIRTY AREAS, AND HATS OFF TO AVI FOR THE GHOST EFFECT ON THIS PART WHICH HE FELL IN LOVE WITH AND KEPT ON WATCHING IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN HAHA BUT TO HIM IT WAS WORTH IT SO YEH.
TODAY WE DECIDED TO BRING SOME FEMININE ASPECTS INTO OUR PRODUCTION, AS WE HAD LATISHA AND INDI PLAYING SHIV'S ROLL SINCE HE HAS GONE ON HOLIDAY DOING A TYPICAL RELATIONSHIP BREAK UP SCENE AND ENDING WITH INDI SMASHING A GLASS BOTTLE ON THE FLOOR, WE USED AN EFFECT CALLED REVERSE ACTION SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND IT LOOKED REALLY WICKEDDDD SO ONCE AGAIN HATS OFF TO AVIIINASHHHH AND YES HE DID FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS EFFECT AND WATCHED IN CONTINOUSLY. ALSO I FROGOT TO MENTION ABOUT OUR TITLE, THIS TITLE IS OFF THE CHAIN AND IN MY VIEW THE BEST TITLE SO FAR IN ALL PRODUCTIONS, TOOK AGAES TO DO BUT IM NOT GOING TO GIVE AWAY WHAT IT IZ AND HOW WE DONE IT, YOU CAN SEE FOR YOURSELFS WHEN ITS SHOWN.

EDITING PROGRESS 01/04/08
Well since Amit couldnt be bothered to update the blog since hes too busy practicin for his ECB coachin shanannagenz, i thought id do the honours and fill you in whats been going on lykkk.. well yday we had out hero Shiv make a suprise appearance at school to take some shots of him much 2 ajitpal's delight, him and amit were beh happy he came (haha), moving on, AMIT AND AJITPAL, filmed him 1st in the school studio in the F block (i never knew we even had a music block let alone a studio), rapping on the mic with the headsets on, when it came to capturing it, on the software, despite the fact me and Avi thinking this studio is profressionall, it just turned out to be a classroom wiv instruments so it didnt look good as there was school surroundingz that were being shown BUTTT, we did however manage to find some good decent shots in that scene which we have used so yeh that scene is done and dusted. the next scene which involved Shiv was a long shot of him kickin a paper ball and then picking it up and opening it and the camera closed in to the paper which was the rap battle leaflet so it creates a bit of narrative to the audience as they will be aware whats the main story to this film, there was also bit of dialoigue but i dont think we have used that part but we're still contemplating. Also today we took shots of out black artist (Lanzel - ARIESSSMANNNNNNN), saying a few words, filmed by Avinah and Amit, quite a few shots where taken such as close ups and side shots of Lanzel saying few lines of dialougue, we also go him punchin the screen towards the camera, this shot will relate to the scene where Shiv falls on to the floor, we already have captured that scene, but no idea wheather we will use what we have or re-film that. Also we sequenced everything in order of what we got so far, and added a soundtrack which goes well with the trailer, the 1st 15 seconds will have shots of our institutions and then when out beat kicks in, thats when our trailer kicks in.
at the moment our trailer is looking very good and we are all pleased, just a few little bits and bobs left to do, but we're happy with what we have produced so far and hope we continue with this hardwork. also id like to give a shoutout to the mentors who assist us, they have been very helpful , alot of advice given on their blog, especially from Athar despite the fact we both diss eachother lol but yeh Athar especially has been doing his job perfectly as well as all the other mentors (yes Nazia that includes you can stop crying now) they all have been doing their job well and thanx for the advice, help and contribution in some way.
but yeh thats all i gotta say now, ill be back more and yeh - C'MONNNNNNNNNNNNNNN BOYZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ BIG UP MR BABU
