Past Students Production Analysis

Kabhi Socha Na Tha

Media Language-

  • The setting of the trailer is mainly in a park. The park signifies peace and equality which goes we with the music in the production as it portray's romance within the film.
  • As all of the trailer is filmed outdoor; in daylight, I'm assuming that they were using natural lighting to make their production look more authentic.
  • The sound that has been used in this Bollywood trailer is non-digetic as they have used the movie's soundtrack over their editing.
  • In the trailer the female protaganist is wearing traditional indian clothing to give the trailer a greater sense of realism.
  • Close ups have been used on the protangist when crying, to show the audience her facial expressions which the audience will then question why is he crying?
  • They used dissovles to blur scenes from one another. This was goos as it made the trailer look soft and subtle which gave the trailer that calmness and romance.

Institution-

  • The films distributor in the trailer is the famous bollwood Yash Raj Films.
  • Yash Raj Films are the second largest film industry in the world.
  • The company started out as a film making company in 1970 and has grown from strength to strength over the last three decades.
  • In 2004, Hollywood repoter carried a survey on the "Biggest Film Distribution Houses" in the world, in which Yash Raj Film was listed as the 27th in the world, making it thereby the number 1 film distribution house in India.

Genre-

  • The genre of this Bollywood film trailer is a stereotypical romantic love triangle were the female protaganist has to choose her love.

Representation-

  • The representation of the trailer shows a typical Asian girl in a love triangle, were she then has to choose which boy she wants; her best friend or the one she loves.

Audience-

  • The target audience for this traile i would believe is for an older Asian generation. Mums and Dads who enjoy the romance and love.
  • The secondary audience for the trailer would be people who like a bit of drama and are constantly involved in realtionship.
